राजा च शान्तनुर्द्विजवचनोत्पन्नपरिदेवनशोकस्तान् ब्राह्मणानग्रत: कृत्वाग्रजस्य प्रदानायारण्यं जगाम॥ २३॥
अनुवाद
उधर ब्राह्मणों के कथनानुसार राजा शान्तनु दुःखी और शोकाकुल होकर ब्राह्मणों को आगे करके अपने बड़े भाई को राज्य देने के लिए वन में चले गए॥23॥
On the other hand, as per the words of the Brahmins, King Shantanu, feeling sad and sorrowful, went into the forest to give the kingdom to his elder brother, putting the Brahmins in front. 23॥
