शूद्र का कर्तव्य है द्विजाति लोगों के प्रयोजनों की पूर्ति के लिए काम करना और उसी से अपना भरण-पोषण करना, अथवा [आपातकाल में, जब पूर्वोक्त साधनों से जीविका न चल सके] वस्तुओं का क्रय-विक्रय करके अथवा शिल्पकला करके जीविका चलाना।॥32॥
The duty of a Sudra is to work for the fulfillment of the purposes of the twice-caste people and to support himself by that, or [in times of emergency, when the livelihood cannot be sustained by the aforesaid means] to earn his living by buying and selling goods or by doing craftsmanship.॥ 32॥
