| कुंभकर्ण एक गुफा में रहता था जो अत्यंत सुंदर थी और जिसका वातावरण फूलों की सुगंध से भरा हुआ था। उसकी लंबाई-चौड़ाई चारों ओर एक योजन थी और उसका द्वार बहुत बड़ा था। जैसे ही वे उसमें प्रवेश करते, कुंभकर्ण की श्वास के बल से वह महाबली राक्षस अचानक पीछे हट जाता। फिर बड़ी कठिनाई से वे अपने पैर जमाकर गुफा में प्रवेश कर जाते। |
