हर्ष और उत्साह से भरकर रावण का सारथि अपने रथ को तेजी से हाँक रहा था। वह रथ शत्रु सेना को कुचलने में समर्थ था और गंधर्व नगर के समान अद्भुत दिख रहा था। उस पर बहुत ऊँची ध्वजा फहरा रही थी। उस रथ को उत्तम गुणों से संपन्न और स्वर्ण हारों से विभूषित घोड़े खींच रहे थे। वह रथ युद्ध सामग्री से भरा हुआ था। उस रथ पर ध्वजाओं और पताकाओं की माला थी। ऐसा प्रतीत हो रहा था मानो वह आकाश को निगल रहा हो। वह अपनी गर्जना से पृथ्वी को गुंजायमान कर रहा था। वह शत्रु सेनाओं का संहार करने वाला और अपनी सेना के योद्धाओं के हर्ष को बढ़ाने वाला था।

A very high flag was fluttering on it. That chariot was drawn by horses endowed with excellent qualities and adorned with golden necklaces. The chariot was filled with war material. That chariot was wearing a garland of flags and banners. It seemed as if it was swallowing the sky. It was making the earth resound with its roaring sound.
