अधोगतमुखी बाला विलप्तुमुपचक्रमे॥ १॥

| जनकनन्दिनी सीता के मुख से आँसू बह रहे थे। उन्होंने अपना मुख नीचे की ओर झुका लिया था। उपर्युक्त वचन कहते समय वे मानो पागल हो गई थीं - उन पर भूत सवार हो गया था, पित्त की अधिकता के कारण वे पागलों की तरह बड़बड़ा रही थीं, या भ्रम आदि के कारण उनका मन भ्रमित हो गया था। वे शोक से भूमि पर लोटते हुए बछड़े के समान लेटी हुई तड़प रही थीं। उस अवस्था में सरल हृदया सीता इस प्रकार विलाप करने लगीं -॥1-2॥ |
