अर्थं वा यदि वा कामं शिष्टा: शास्त्रेष्वनागतम्।
व्यवस्यन्त्यनुराजानं धर्मं पौलस्त्यनन्दन॥ ९॥
अनुवाद
‘पुलस्त्यकुलनन्दन! धर्म, अर्थ या काम के श्रेष्ठ पुरुष भी, जिनका शास्त्रों में उल्लेख नहीं है, वे राजा को देखकर ही करने लगते हैं (अतः राजा को अनुचित या अशास्त्रीय कर्मों में प्रवृत्त नहीं होना चाहिए)॥9॥
'Pulastyakulnandan! Even the best men of religion, wealth or work, which are not mentioned in the scriptures, start doing such things only after watching the king (therefore, the king should not indulge in inappropriate or unscriptural actions). 9॥
