'देवालयों और चैत्य वृक्षों पर निवास करने वाले पशु-पक्षी दुःखी दिखाई देते हैं। मैं देखता हूँ कि नगर के सभी स्त्री-पुरुषों के चेहरे उदास हैं, उनकी आँखें आँसुओं से भरी हुई हैं और वे सभी दुःखी, चिन्तित, दुर्बल और व्याकुल हैं।'॥42-43॥
‘The animals and birds who reside in the temples and on the Chaitya (God) trees appear miserable. I see that the faces of all the men and women of the city are gloomy, their eyes are filled with tears and all of them are miserable, worried, weak and anxious.'॥ 42-43॥
