कोई व्यक्ति पलाश के सुन्दर फूल को देखकर मन में यह विचार करता है कि इसका फल और भी सुन्दर तथा स्वादिष्ट होगा; फल पाने की इच्छा से वह आम के बगीचे को काटकर वहाँ पलाश के पौधे लगाता है और उन्हें सींचता है। फल लगने पर वह पश्चाताप करता है (क्योंकि उसे अपनी आशा के अनुसार फल नहीं मिलता)।॥8॥
'Someone, seeing the beautiful flower of the Palaash tree, thinking in his mind that its fruit will be even more beautiful and delicious, cuts down a mango orchard and plants Palaash saplings there and waters them, in the desire of getting the fruit. He repents at the time of the fruit setting (because he does not get the fruit as per his expectations).॥ 8॥
