भोजयन्ति किल श्राद्धे केचित् स्वानेव बान्धवान्।
तत: पश्चात् समीक्षन्ते कृतकार्या द्विजोत्तमान्॥ १२॥
तत्र ये गुणवन्तश्च विद्वांसश्च द्विजातय:।
न पश्चात् तेऽभिमन्यन्ते सुधामपि सुरोपमा:॥ १३॥ |

| कहते हैं कि कुछ लोग श्राद्धकर्म में पहले अपने सगे-संबंधियों (पौत्र आदि) को भोजन कराते हैं, फिर कृतज्ञ होकर निमंत्रित ब्राह्मणों की ओर ध्यान देते हैं। किन्तु जो पुण्यात्मा, विद्वान् और देवतातुल्य ब्राह्मण हैं, वे बाद में दिए जाने पर भी अमृत को ग्रहण नहीं करते।॥12-13॥ |

| ‘It is said that some people first feed their relatives (grandsons etc.) during the Shraddha ceremony and then, feeling grateful, they turn their attention to the invited Brahmins. But the Brahmins who are virtuous and learned and are like gods do not accept nectar even if it is served to them later.॥ 12-13॥ |
