अपने भाई की आज्ञा सुनकर, अपने मन को वश में रखने वाले लक्ष्मण ने उसके अनुसार कार्य किया और सबसे पहले मिथिला की पुत्री सीता को नाव पर बिठाया और फिर स्वयं उस पर सवार हो गये।
