अथोत्तमान्याभरणानि देवि
देहि स्नुषायै व्यपनीय चीरम्।
न चीरमस्या: प्रविधीयतेति

| ‘देवि! सीता आपकी पुत्रवधू हैं। इनके शरीर से पुराने वस्त्र उतारकर इन्हें उत्तम वस्त्र और आभूषण पहनाइए। इन्हें वल्कल वस्त्र देना कदापि उचित नहीं है।’ ऐसा कहकर वशिष्ठजी ने जानकी को वल्कल वस्त्र पहनाने से मना किया। |
