यथावयो हि राज्यानि प्राप्नुवन्ति नृपक्षये।
इक्ष्वाकुकुलनाथेऽस्मिंस्तं लोपयितुमिच्छसि॥ ९॥
अनुवाद
'इस कुल में राजा के मर जाने पर उसके पुत्रों की आयु का विचार करके ज्येष्ठ पुत्र को राजगद्दी मिलती है। तुम इक्ष्वाकु वंश के स्वामी महाराज दशरथ के जीवित रहते हुए राजकुल की इस परम्परागत रीति को मिटाना चाहते हो।॥9॥
'In this family, when the king dies, considering the age of his sons, the eldest son gets the throne. You want to eradicate this traditional custom of the royal family while Maharaja Dasharath, the lord of the Ikshwaku dynasty, is still alive.॥ 9॥
