अथ तं व्यथया दीनं सविशेषममर्षितम्।
सरोषमिव नागेन्द्रं रोषविस्फारितेक्षणम्॥ १॥
आसाद्य राम: सौमित्रिं सुहृदं भ्रातरं प्रियम्।
उवाचेदं स धैर्येण धारयन् सत्त्वमात्मवान्॥ २॥ |

| (श्रीराम के राज्याभिषेक में विघ्न पड़ने के कारण) सुमित्रापुत्र लक्ष्मण मानसिक वेदना के कारण अत्यन्त दुःखी थे। उनका मन क्षोभ से भर गया था। वे क्रोधित हाथी के समान आँखें फाड़कर घूर रहे थे। मन को वश में करने वाले श्री राम ने धैर्यपूर्वक मन को वश में रखा और अपने शुभचिंतक, मित्र एवं प्रिय भाई लक्ष्मण के पास जाकर इस प्रकार बोले -॥1-2॥ |
