यह अप्रिय समाचार सुनकर देवी कौशल्या सहसा वन में कुल्हाड़ी से कटी हुई साल वृक्ष की शाखा के समान पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़ीं, मानो कोई दिव्य अप्सरा स्वर्ग से पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़ी हो।
On hearing this unpleasant news, Goddess Kausalya suddenly fell down on the earth like a branch of a sal tree cut with an axe in the forest, as if some celestial nymph had fallen down to the earth from heaven.
