सागर: समयं कृत्वा न वेलामतिवर्तते।
समयं मानृतं कार्षी: पूर्ववृत्तमनुस्मरन्॥ ४४॥
अनुवाद
समुद्र ने (देवताओं के समक्ष) प्रतिज्ञा की थी कि वह अपनी निश्चित सीमा का उल्लंघन नहीं करेगा, अतः अब तक उसने उसका उल्लंघन नहीं किया है। तुम भी पूर्वकाल के महापुरुषों के आचरण को सदैव स्मरण रखो और अपनी प्रतिज्ञा को कभी मिथ्या न करो॥ 44॥
‘The ocean had pledged (before the gods) that it would not cross its fixed limits, so till now it has not violated it. You too should always keep in mind the behaviour of the great men of the past and never make your pledge false.॥ 44॥
