स मे ज्येष्ठसुत: श्रीमान् धर्मज्येष्ठ इतीव मे।
तत् त्वया प्रियवादिन्या सेवार्थं कथितं भवेत्॥ १७॥
अनुवाद
पहले तुम कहा करते थे कि ‘श्रीराम मेरे ज्येष्ठ पुत्र हैं, धर्माचरण में भी वे श्रेष्ठ हैं!’ परन्तु अब मैं जानता हूँ कि तुम ऊपर से तो मीठी-मीठी बातें करते थे और वे बातें तुमने श्री रामजी से सेवा करवाने के लिए ही कही होंगी॥ 17॥
'Earlier you used to say that 'Shri Ram is my eldest son, he is the greatest in religious conduct as well!' But now I know that you used to speak sweetly on the surface and you must have said those things only to get Sri Ram to serve you.॥ 17॥
