'सारथी! तुम शीघ्र ही इस वेदी पर बहुत-सी कुशा बिछा दो। जब तक आर्य लोग मुझ पर प्रसन्न नहीं हो जाते, मैं उनके साथ यहीं बैठूँगा। जैसे साहूकार या महाजन द्वारा दरिद्र बना दिया गया ब्राह्मण बिना खाए-पीए अपने घर के द्वार पर मुँह ढँककर लेट जाता है, उसी प्रकार मैं भी उपवास करके मुँह ढँककर इस कुटिया के सामने लेट जाऊँगा। जब तक वे मेरी बात मानकर अयोध्या को लौट नहीं जाते, मैं यहीं ऐसे ही पड़ा रहूँगा।'॥13-14॥
‘Charioteer! You should quickly spread a lot of kusha grass on this altar. I will sit here with them until the Aryans are pleased with me. Just as a Brahmin who is made poor by a moneylender or a moneylender lies at the door of his house with his face covered without eating or drinking, in the same way I will also fast and cover my face and lie down in front of this hut. I will lie here like this until they listen to me and return to Ayodhya.'॥ 13-14॥
