स नास्ति परमित्येतत् कुरु बुद्धिं महामते।
प्रत्यक्षं यत् तदातिष्ठ परोक्षं पृष्ठत: कुरु॥ १७॥ |

| अतः हे महात्मन! आप मन में निश्चय कर लें कि इस लोक के अतिरिक्त कोई दूसरा लोक नहीं है (अतः वहाँ फल भोगने के लिए धर्म आदि का पालन करने की आवश्यकता नहीं है)। राज्य के प्रत्यक्ष लाभ का आश्रय लें और अप्रत्यक्ष (परलोक के लाभ) को पीछे धकेल दें॥ 17॥ |

| ‘Therefore, O great one! You should decide in your mind that there is no other world except this one (therefore there is no need to follow Dharma etc. to enjoy the fruits there). Take shelter of the direct benefits of the kingdom and push the indirect (otherworldly benefits) behind.॥ 17॥ |
