गंगा के गर्भ से जो तेज निकला, वह जम्बूनाद नामक तपे हुए सोने के समान चमकीला प्रतीत हुआ (गंगा स्वर्णमय मेरुगिरि पर्वत से प्रकट हुई थीं; अतः उनके बालक का भी वही रंग था)। पृथ्वी पर जहाँ वह तेजोमय गर्भ स्थापित हुआ, वहाँ की भूमि और वहाँ की सब वस्तुएँ सुवर्णमय हो गईं। उसके चारों ओर का आकाश एक अनोखी आभा से चमकता हुआ चाँदी जैसा हो गया। उस तेज के तेज से दूर-दूर के देश की वस्तुएँ ताँबे और लोहे के रूप में परिवर्तित हो गईं ॥18-19॥
The light that came out of Ganga's womb appeared as bright as the heated gold called Jambunad (Ganga appeared from the golden mountain Merugiri; hence, her child also had the same complexion). Where that brilliant womb was established on earth, the land and everything there became golden. The space around him became silver shining with a unique glow. Due to the sharpness of that brightness, the things in the distant lands were transformed into the form of copper and iron. 18-19॥
