दृढज्यमानाम्य समुद्रघोषं
प्रादुश्चक्रे भार्गवास्त्रं महात्मा।
महेन्द्रशस्त्राभिमुखान् विमुक्तां-
श्छित्त्वा कर्ण: पाण्डवस्येषुसंघान्॥ २७॥
तस्यास्त्रमस्त्रेण निहत्य सोऽथ
जघान संख्ये रथनागपत्तीन्।
अमृष्यमाणश्च महेन्द्रकर्मा
महारणे भार्गवास्त्रप्रतापात्॥ २८॥
 
 
अनुवाद
उस महामनस्वी वीर ने अपने सुदृढ़ धनुष को चढ़ाकर समुद्र के समान गर्जना करने वाला भार्गवास्त्र प्रकट किया और अर्जुन के महेन्द्रास्त्र से उत्पन्न हुए बाणों के समूह को टुकड़े-टुकड़े करके अपने ही अस्त्र से उनके अस्त्रों को दबाकर रणभूमि में रथों, हाथियों और पैदलों का विनाश कर दिया। उस महासमर में अमर कर्ण भार्गवास्त्र के पराक्रम से देवराज इन्द्र के समान पराक्रम प्रदर्शित कर रहा था। 27-28॥
 
That great-minded hero, bending his bow whose string was strong, revealed the Bhargavastra, which roared as loudly as the ocean, and after cutting into pieces the masses of arrows that appeared from Arjuna's Mahendrastra, suppressing their weapons with his own weapon, destroyed the chariots, elephants and foot soldiers in the battlefield. In that great battle, the immortal Karna was displaying prowess like that of Devraj Indra with the might of Bhargavastra. 27-28॥
