तत: परानीकसहं व्यूहमप्रतिमं कृतम्।
समीक्ष्य कर्ण: पार्थानां धृष्टद्युम्नाभिरक्षितम्॥ १॥
प्रययौ रथघोषेण सिंहनादरवेण च।
वादित्राणां च निनदै: कम्पयन्निव मेदिनीम्॥ २॥
वेपमान इव क्रोधाद् युद्धशौण्ड: परंतप:।
प्रतिव्यूह्य महातेजा यथावद् भरतर्षभ॥ ३॥
व्यधमत् पाण्डवीं सेनामासुरीं मघवानिव।
युधिष्ठिरं चाभ्यहनदपसव्यं चकार ह॥ ४॥ | | | | | | अनुवाद | | संजय कहते हैं - हे भरतश्रेष्ठ! तत्पश्चात् यह देखकर कि कुन्तीपुत्रों की सेना की अद्वितीय व्यूह रचना हो गई है, जो शत्रु सेना के आक्रमण को सहने में समर्थ है और धृष्टद्युम्न द्वारा सुरक्षित है, शत्रुओं को संताप देने वाला, रथ की गड़गड़ाहट से पृथ्वी को कंपा देने वाला, सिंह के समान गर्जना करने वाला और बाजे की गम्भीर ध्वनि से स्वयं क्रोध से काँपता हुआ कुशल योद्धा कर्ण आगे बढ़ा। शत्रुओं के विरुद्ध अपनी सेना की उपयुक्त व्यूह रचना करके उस महारथी ने पाण्डव सेना का उसी प्रकार संहार आरम्भ कर दिया, जैसे इन्द्र राक्षसों की सेना का संहार करते हैं। उसने युधिष्ठिर को घायल करके उन्हें दाहिनी ओर धकेल दिया।॥1-4॥ | | | | Sanjaya says - O best of the Bharatas!
