| रु' शब्द के कारण इन्हें रुद्र कहा गया है, जिसका अर्थ है दुःखों का हरण करने वाला। ब्रह्मा आदि जगत के रक्षकों में ये श्रेष्ठ हैं। ये पापों का नाश करने वाले, कल्याण करने वाले और जटाधारी हैं। ये सबको चेतना प्रदान करने वाले हैं और ये स्थावर-जंगम प्राणियों के परम कारण हैं। 63. |
