ब्राह्मणों को भोजन आदि से तृप्त करके तथा उन्हें स्वर्ण मुद्राएँ, गौएँ और वस्त्र आदि दक्षिणा देकर, आपस में बातचीत करके, वहाँ एकत्रित श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मणों से स्वस्ति मन्त्र पढ़वाया, उनका आशीर्वाद लिया और प्रसन्नतापूर्वक शुद्ध जल का स्पर्श करके अग्नि प्रज्वलित की। फिर निकट आकर, अग्नि के समक्ष युद्ध का संकल्प लिया और दृढ़ संकल्प किया।
After satisfying the Brahmins with food etc. and giving them dakshina in the form of gold coins, cows and clothes, after talking to each other, he made the best Brahmins assembled there chant the Swasti mantra, took their blessings and joyfully lit the fire by touching pure water.
