अश्वत्थामा ने कहा - मूर्ख! नीच! मेरे चाचा सम्पूर्ण जगत में सर्वश्रेष्ठ धनुर्धर और वीर योद्धा हैं। वे अर्जुन के वास्तविक गुणों का वर्णन कर रहे थे, फिर भी तू द्वेषवश अपनी वीरता का बखान कर रहा है और आज युद्ध में अपने अहंकार में चूर होकर उसे फटकार रहा है तथा किसी को कुछ भी नहीं समझ रहा है। इसका क्या कारण है?॥3-4॥
Ashvatthama said - Foolish one! Wretched one! My uncle is the best archer and brave warrior in the entire world. He was describing the true qualities of Arjun, yet you are boasting about your bravery out of enmity and are reprimanding him in the war today in your pride and not considering anyone as anything.
