जिस प्रकार प्रलयकाल में संवर्तक अग्नि समस्त प्राणियों को जला डालती है, उसी प्रकार अश्वत्थामा उस दैत्य सेना का संहार करके युद्धभूमि में अत्यन्त यशस्वी हुआ।
