यह देखकर विजय के लिए उत्सुक पांचाल सैनिक तुरन्त ही उसका सामना करने के लिए आगे बढ़े; परंतु कौरवों में श्रेष्ठ दुर्योधन की रक्षा के लिए द्रोणाचार्य ने उन सबको उसी प्रकार नष्ट कर दिया जैसे सूर्यदेव तेज वायु द्वारा उठे हुए बादलों को नष्ट कर देते हैं ॥42-43॥
Seeing this, the Panchala soldiers, eager for victory, immediately advanced to face him; but to protect the best of the Kurus, Duryodhana, Dronacharya destroyed them all in the same way as the Sun God destroys the clouds raised by the strong wind. ॥ 42-43॥
