राजन! तत्पश्चात् शिखण्डी को भी तीक्ष्ण पंखयुक्त बाणों से अत्यन्त घायल कर दिया गया। शिखण्डी ने तत्काल ही अश्वत्थामा द्वारा सायकोण के प्रहार से तोड़ी गई तलवार को घुमाकर उस पर चला दिया। वह तलवार प्रज्वलित सर्प के समान चमक उठी। अश्वत्थामा ने युद्ध में अपना पराक्रम दिखाते हुए प्रलयकाल की अग्नि के समान चमकती हुई उस तलवार को अपने ऊपर आती हुई सहसा काट डाला। तत्पश्चात् उसने अनेक लौह बाणों से शिखण्डी को भी घायल कर दिया। 35-37॥
Rajan! After that, Shikhandi was also badly injured with sharp feathered arrows. Shikhandi immediately swung the sword that had been broken by Ashwatthama with the blow of Saikon and used it on him. That sword became bright like a flaming snake. Ashwatthama suddenly cut down that sword coming upon him, as bright as the fire of the doomsday, showing his prowess in the battle. After that he also injured Shikhandi with many iron arrows. 35-37॥
