संजय उवाच
समं व्यूढेष्वनीकेषु भूयिष्ठेष्वनिवर्तिन:।
ब्रह्मलोकपरा: सर्वे समपद्यन्त भारत॥ १॥ |

| संजय कहते हैं - भरतनन्दन! दोनों पक्षों की सेनाएँ एक ही दल में खड़ी थीं। अधिकांश सैनिक उसी दल में तैनात थे। वे सभी युद्ध में पीठ दिखाने वाले नहीं थे और ब्रह्मलोक को ही अपना परम लक्ष्य मानकर युद्ध करने के लिए तत्पर थे॥1॥ |

| Sanjaya says - Bharatanandan! The armies of both sides were arranged in similar formation. Most of the soldiers were stationed in that formation. All of them were not going to turn their backs in the war and were ready to fight considering Brahmaloka as their ultimate goal.॥ 1॥ |
