न कर्मणा सुकृतेनैव राजन्
सत्यं जयेज्जुहुयाद् वा यजेद् वा।
नैतेन बालोऽमृत्युमभ्येति राजन्
रतिं चासौ न लभत्यन्तकाले॥ १९॥
अनुवाद
राजन! केवल पुण्य कर्मों (निष्काम भाव से किए गए) से ही सत्यस्वरूप ब्रह्म को नहीं जीता जा सकता। न ही किए गए हवन या यज्ञ से भी अज्ञानी मनुष्य अमरता और मोक्ष को प्राप्त नहीं कर सकता और न ही उसे परलोक में शांति मिलती है। 19॥
Rajan! Brahma, the true form, cannot be conquered by mere virtuous deeds (done without selflessness). Or even through the Havan or Yagya that is performed, an ignorant person cannot attain immortality and salvation and he also does not get peace in the afterlife. 19॥
