मित्रता के छह गुण हैं जो निश्चित रूप से जानने योग्य हैं। मित्र के प्रिय होने पर प्रसन्न होना और नापसंद होने पर दुःखी होना, ये दो गुण हैं। तीसरा गुण है, मित्र के माँगने पर अपनी सारी संचित संपत्ति दे देना। बिना माँगी हुई वस्तु भी मित्र को देने योग्य हो जाती है। और तो और, जब मित्र माँगता है, तो वह शुद्ध भाव से अपने प्रिय पुत्र, धन और पत्नी का भी उसके हित में त्याग कर देता है।
There are six qualities of friendship which are definitely worth knowing. To be happy when a friend is liked and to feel pain when he is disliked are two qualities. The third quality is to give away all the wealth that one has accumulated for a long time when a friend asks for it. Even an unasked-for thing becomes definitely worth giving to a friend. And what's more, when a friend asks for it, he sacrifices his beloved son, wealth and wife for his benefit with pure intentions.
