तथापि राजा सहित: सुहृद्भि-
रभीप्सतेऽनामयमेव तेषाम्।
यत् तु स्वयं पाण्डुसुतैर्विजित्य
समाहृतं भूमिपतीन् प्रपीडॺ॥ १७॥
तत् प्रार्थयन्ते पुरुषप्रवीरा:
कुन्तीसुता माद्रवतीसुतौ च।
बालास्त्विमे तैर्विविधैरुपायै:
सम्प्रार्थिता हन्तुममित्रसंघै:॥ १८॥
राज्यं जिहीर्षद्भिरसद्भिरुग्रै:
सर्वं च तद् वो विदितं यथावत्। |

| परन्तु राजा युधिष्ठिर अपने मित्रों सहित उनका ही कल्याण चाहते हैं। ये वीर कुन्ती और माद्रीपुत्र उसी धन की मांग कर रहे हैं, जिसे पाण्डवों ने युद्धों में अन्य राजाओं को हराकर और उन्हें कष्ट देकर प्राप्त किया था। जब पाण्डव बालक थे और अपना हित-अहित कुछ भी नहीं समझते थे, तब उनका राज्य हड़पने की इच्छा से उन भयंकर स्वभाव वाले दुष्ट शत्रुओं ने संगठित होकर नाना प्रकार के षड्यन्त्रों द्वारा उन्हें मारने का प्रयत्न किया था; इन सब बातों को आप भली-भाँति जानते होंगे॥17-18 1/2॥ |
