वैशम्पायन कहते हैं - हे राजन! भीष्म और द्रोण आदि कौरव योद्धाओं ने पुरुषोत्तम अर्जुन को नपुंसक वेश में रथ पर बैठकर उत्तरा को रथ पर बिठाकर शमी वृक्ष की ओर जाते देखा। यह देखकर वे सभी अर्जुन के भय से हृदय में भयभीत हो गये।
Vaishampayana says - O King! The Kaurava warriors like Bhishma and Drona saw Arjuna, the best of men, sitting on a chariot dressed as a eunuch and going towards the Shami tree with Uttara seated on the chariot. Seeing this, all of them became afraid in their hearts, fearing for Arjuna.
