रथियों में श्रेष्ठ राजा विराट अपने रथ द्वारा नाना प्रकार के युद्धकौशल दिखाते हुए नाना मार्गों से चलते हुए उस युद्ध में त्रिगर्तों के पाँच सौ रथियों, आठ सौ घुड़सवारों और पाँच महारथियों को मारकर सुवर्णमय रथ पर बैठकर सुशर्मा पर आक्रमण किया॥22-23॥
