लक्ष्मण सदाचारी और श्री रामचंद्रजी के प्रेमी थे। सीता के ये कठोर वचन सुनकर उन्होंने अपने दोनों कान बंद कर लिए और उसी मार्ग पर चल पड़े जिस मार्ग से श्री रामचंद्रजी गए थे। उस समय लक्ष्मण के हाथ में धनुष था। उन्होंने बिम्बफल के समान लाल हो चुके ओठों वाली सीता की ओर देखा तक नहीं। श्री राम के पदचिन्हों का अनुसरण करते हुए वे वहाँ से चले गए।
Lakshmana was virtuous and a lover of Shri Ramchandra. On hearing these harsh words of Sita, he closed both his ears and started walking on the same path by which Shri Ramchandra had gone. At that time Lakshmana had a bow in his hand. He did not even look up at Sita whose lips were as red as the Bimbaphal. Following the footsteps of Shri Ram, he left from there.
