वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं, 'हे जनमेजय! तत्पश्चात, उसी क्षण इच्छानुसार गति करने वाला एक महान् विमान बड़े वेग से उड़ता हुआ वहाँ आ पहुँचा।' युधिष्ठिर से उपर्युक्त वचन कहकर राजा नहुष ने अजगर का शरीर त्याग दिया और दिव्य देह धारण करके पुनः स्वर्गलोक को चले गए।
