धर्मराजश्च तत्रैव संचस्कारयिषुस्तदा।
दग्धुकामोऽभवद् विद्वानथ वागभ्यभाषत॥ ३१॥
भो भो राजन्न दग्धव्यमेतद् विदुरसंज्ञकम्।
कलेवरमिहैवं ते धर्म एष सनातन:॥ ३२॥
लोका: सान्तानिका नाम भविष्यन्त्यस्य भारत।
यतिधर्ममवाप्तोऽसौ नैष शोच्य: परंतप॥ ३३॥ |

| अब विद्वान धर्मराज ने विदुरजी के शरीर का वहीं दाह-संस्कार करने का विचार किया। तभी आकाशवाणी हुई - 'हे राजन! हे भरतपुत्र, शत्रुओं को पीड़ा देने वाले! इस विदुरजी के शरीर का यहाँ दाह-संस्कार करना उचित नहीं है; क्योंकि उन्होंने त्याग धर्म का पालन किया था। यहाँ उनका दाह-संस्कार न करना ही आपके लिए सनातन धर्म है। विदुरजी सनातन लोकों को प्राप्त होंगे; अतः आपको उनके लिए शोक नहीं करना चाहिए।'॥31-33॥ |

| Now the learned Dharmaraj thought of cremating Vidur's body there itself. Just then a voice from the sky was heard - 'O King! O Bharata's son, the tormentor of enemies! It is not proper to cremate the body of this Vidur here; because he followed the religion of renunciation. Not cremating him here is the eternal religion for you. Vidurji will attain the worlds called Sanatanika; therefore, you should not mourn for him.'॥ 31-33॥ |
