पितृपैतामहे राज्ये वश्ये जनपदे सति।
विषयं नाधिगच्छामि विचिन्वन् पृथिवीमहम्॥ ८॥ |

| जनक बोले - हे ब्राह्मण! यद्यपि मेरे पूर्वजों के समय से मिथिला राज्य पर मेरा अधिकार है, तथापि जब मैं अपनी आँखों से देखता हूँ तो सम्पूर्ण पृथ्वी पर खोजने पर भी मुझे अपना देश कहीं नहीं मिलता। |
