भार्गव! अग्नि को बाहर निकालने का एकमात्र उपाय मनुष्यों ने शमी का मंथन ही खोजा है। अग्नि ने रसातल में जिस जल का स्पर्श किया था और जो वहाँ सोये हुए अग्निदेव के तेज से संतृप्त हो गया था, वही जल पर्वतीय झरनों के रूप में अपनी ऊष्मा छोड़ता है।
Bhaargava! The only way men have found to bring out Agni is by churning the Shami. The water which Agni had touched in the abyss and which had become saturated with the brilliance of the Agnidev who was sleeping there, that water releases its heat in the form of mountain springs. 45-46.
