जो ब्राह्मण वेदों में तत्पर, ज्ञानी, ज्ञान के आनन्द से संतुष्ट, बुद्धिमान, सुशील, मन को वश में रखने वाला, परिश्रमी, सब प्राणियों से सदा मधुर वचन बोलने वाला, भूख के भय से भी पाप न करने वाला, मृदुभाषी, शान्तचित्त, अतिथि प्रेमी, सबमें समभाव रखने वाला तथा स्त्री, पुत्र आदि से युक्त परिवार वाला हो, उस ब्राह्मण की जीविका का प्रबंध अवश्य होना चाहिए ॥20-21॥
The livelihood of a Brahmin who is devoted to the Vedas, knowledgeable, satisfied with the joy of knowledge, intelligent, well-mannered, has control over his mind, is diligent, always speaks kind words to all living beings, does not do wrong even in the fear of hunger, is soft-spoken, peaceful, is a lover of guests, is equal to all and has a family of wife, son etc., the livelihood of that Brahmin must be arranged. 20-21॥
