शूद्रकर्माणि सर्वाणि यथान्यायं यथाविधि।
शुश्रूषां परिचर्यां च ज्येष्ठे वर्णे प्रयत्नत:॥ २७॥
कुर्यादविमना: शूद्र: सततं सत्पथे स्थित:।
देवद्विजातिसत्कर्ता सर्वातिथ्यकृतव्रत:॥ २८॥
ऋतुकालाभिगामी च नियतो नियताशन:।
चोक्षश्चोक्षजनान्वेषी शेषान्नकृतभोजन:॥ २९॥
वृथामांसं न भुञ्जीत शूद्रो वैश्यत्वमृच्छति। |

| शूद्र को अपने सभी कर्तव्यों का पालन विधिपूर्वक करना चाहिए। उसे उच्च वर्ण के लोगों की सेवा और देखभाल में तत्पर रहना चाहिए। उसे अपने कर्तव्यों से कभी ऊबना नहीं चाहिए। उसे सदैव सन्मार्ग पर चलना चाहिए। उसे देवताओं और ब्राह्मणों का सम्मान करना चाहिए। उसे सभी का आतिथ्य करने का व्रत लेना चाहिए। उसे अपनी पत्नी के साथ केवल उसके मासिक धर्म के दौरान ही संभोग करना चाहिए। उसे नियमित रूप से भोजन करना चाहिए और नियमों का पालन करना चाहिए। उसे पवित्र रहना चाहिए और केवल पवित्र पुरुषों की ही खोज करनी चाहिए। उसे परिवार और अतिथियों द्वारा परोसे गए भोजन में से केवल बचा हुआ भोजन ही खाना चाहिए और मांस नहीं खाना चाहिए। जो शूद्र इन नियमों का पालन करता है, वह वैश्य के रूप में जन्म लेता है (मृत्यु के बाद अपने पुण्यों का फल भोगता है)। |

| A Shudra should perform all his duties in a lawful manner. He should be diligent in serving and attending to those of the higher caste. He should never get bored of performing his duties. He should always be on the right path. He should respect the gods and the Brahmins. He should take a vow to provide hospitality to all. He should have sexual intercourse with his wife only during her period. He should eat regularly and follow rules. He should remain pure and seek out pure men only. He should eat only the leftovers from the food served by the family and guests and should not eat meat. A Shudra who follows these rules is born as a Vaishya (after enjoying the fruits of his good deeds after death). |
