तथायुक्तश्चिरं राज्यं भोक्तं शक्ष्यसि पालयन्॥ २०॥ | | | | | | अनुवाद | | युधिष्ठिर! तुम्हें माली के समान बनना चाहिए। कोयला बनाने वाले के समान मत बनो (माली वृक्ष की जड़ों को सींचता और उनकी रक्षा करता है तथा उनसे फल-फूल प्राप्त करता है, किन्तु कोयला बनाने वाला वृक्ष को पूरी तरह नष्ट कर देता है; उसी प्रकार तुम्हें भी माली बनकर राज्यरूपी बगीचे को सींचना और उसकी रक्षा करनी चाहिए तथा प्रजा से न्यायपूर्वक फल-फूल लेने चाहिए, कोयला बनाने वाले के समान सम्पूर्ण राज्य को जलाकर राख नहीं करना चाहिए), ऐसा करने और प्रजा की रक्षा में तत्पर रहने से तुम दीर्घकाल तक राज्य का उपभोग कर सकोगे। | | | | Yudhishthira!
