दण्डनीत्यां यदा राजा त्रीनंशाननुवर्तते।
चतुर्थमंशमुत्सृज्य तदा त्रेता प्रवर्तते॥ ८७॥
अशुभस्य चतुर्थांशस्त्रीनंशाननुवर्तते।
कृष्टपच्यैव पृथिवी भवन्त्योषधयस्तथा॥ ८८॥ |

| जब राजा दण्डनीति का एक-चौथाई भाग त्यागकर केवल तीन भागों का पालन करता है, तब त्रेता युग का आरंभ होता है। उस समय पाप का एक-चौथाई भाग पुण्य के तीन भागों का पालन करता रहता है। उस अवस्था में धरती को जोतने और बोने से ही अन्न उत्पन्न होता है। औषधियाँ भी उसी प्रकार उत्पन्न होती हैं। 87-88 |
