भीष्म कहते हैं - हे राजन! देवताओं का मत जानकर राजा वसु ने उनका पक्ष लिया और कहा कि अज का अर्थ बकरा है, अतः उसी बकरे से यज्ञ सम्पन्न करना चाहिए।
