भीष्म उवाच
विस्तीर्णैषा कथा राजन् श्रुता मे पितृसंनिधौ।
यैषा तव हि वक्तव्या कथासारो हि सा मता॥ १६॥
अनुवाद
भीष्मजी कहते हैं - राजन! यह कथा अत्यन्त विस्तृत है। मैंने इसे अपने पिता से सुना है। अब जो कथा आपको सुनाई जाती है, वह समस्त कथाओं का सार मानी जाती है॥16॥
Bhishmaji says - King! This story is very detailed. I heard it from my father. The story that is to be told to you now is considered to be the essence of all the stories.॥ 16॥
