हंस उवाच
अज्ञानेनावृतो लोको मात्सर्यान्न प्रकाशते।
लोभात् त्यजति मित्राणि संगात् स्वर्गं न गच्छति॥ ४०॥ |

| हंस ने कहा, "हे देवताओं! इस संसार को अज्ञान ने ढक लिया है। लोगों में ईर्ष्या-द्वेष के कारण इसका वास्तविक स्वरूप प्रकट नहीं होता। मनुष्य लोभ के कारण अपने मित्रों को त्याग देता है और आसक्ति के दोष के कारण वह स्वर्ग में नहीं जा पाता॥40॥ |
