न चापि शूद्र: पततीति निश्चयो
न चापि संस्कारमिहार्हतीति वा।
श्रुतिप्रवृत्तं न च धर्ममाप्नुते
न चास्य धर्मे प्रतिषेधनं कृतम्॥ २७॥
अनुवाद
यह तो निश्चित है कि शूद्र पतित नहीं है और वह उपनयन आदि संस्कारों का अधिकारी नहीं है। वह अग्निहोत्र आदि वैदिक अनुष्ठानों का भी अधिकारी नहीं है; परन्तु उपर्युक्त सामान्य धार्मिक कर्म उसके लिए निषिद्ध नहीं हैं॥ 27॥
It is certain that a Shudra is not a fallen person and he is not entitled to the rituals like Upanayana etc. He is also not entitled to perform Vedic rituals like Agnihotra etc.; but the above mentioned general religious practices are not prohibited for him.॥ 27॥
