गहरी नींद के समय जब मन तामस प्रकृति से अभिभूत होकर शीघ्र ही अपनी वृत्तियों और हलके स्वभाव को मारकर इन्द्रियों के व्यापार को कुछ देर के लिए रोक देता है, उस समय शरीर में जो सुख का अनुभव होता है, उसे विद्वान पुरुष तामस सुख कहते हैं ॥37॥
During the period of deep sleep, when the mind gets overwhelmed by the Tamasic nature and quickly kills its tendencies and light nature and stops the business of the senses for a while, the happiness that is experienced in the body at that time is called Tamasic happiness by learned men. 37॥
