न गुणा विदुरात्मानं स गुणान् वेत्ति सर्वश:।
परिद्रष्टा गुणानां तु संसृष्टान्मन्यते तथा॥ ४१॥
अनुवाद
जड़ होने के कारण सत्त्व आदि गुणों को आत्मा नहीं जानता; परन्तु आत्मा चेतन है, अतः वह सब गुणों को जानता है। यद्यपि आत्मा गुणों का साक्षी है, अतः उनसे सर्वथा भिन्न है, तथापि वह अपने को उन गुणों से एक मानता है। 41॥
Due to being inert, the qualities like sattva etc. do not know the soul; But the soul is conscious, hence it knows all the qualities. Although the soul is a witness to the qualities, hence is completely different from them, yet it considers itself united with those qualities. 41॥
