हे पुत्र युधिष्ठिर, मेरी ओर देखो और देखो कि मैंने क्या किया है। संसार पर राज्य करने की इच्छा रखने वाले क्षत्रिय राजाओं के साथ मैंने ऐसा व्यवहार किया है कि वे संसार के बंधन से मुक्त हो जाएँ (अर्थात् मैंने युद्ध में उन सबको मारकर स्वर्ग भेज दिया)। यद्यपि अन्य लोगों को मेरा यह कार्य अच्छा नहीं लगा - उन्होंने मुझे क्रूर और हिंसक कहकर मेरी निन्दा की (तब भी मैंने किसी की परवाह न करके अपना कर्तव्य किया, उसी प्रकार तुम्हें भी अपने कर्तव्य पथ पर दृढ़तापूर्वक डटे रहना चाहिए)।॥ 25॥
Son Yudhishthira, look at me and see what I have done. I have treated the Kshatriya kings who desired to rule the world in a way that would free them from the worldly bondage (i.e. I killed them all in the war and sent them to heaven). Although other people did not approve of my actions – they criticised me by calling me cruel and violent (even then I did my duty without caring for anyone, similarly you should firmly stand on the path of your duty).॥ 25॥
