एक दिन माद्री को सजी-धजी देखकर पाण्डु उस पर मोहित हो गये और उसका स्पर्श होते ही उन्होंने अपना शरीर त्याग दिया। तत्पश्चात् माद्री अपने पति के शव को अग्नि में रखकर चिता पर बैठ गयी और कुन्ती से बोली - 'बहन! मेरे जुड़वाँ बच्चों के पालन-पोषण में भी तुम्हें सदैव सावधानी बरतनी होगी।' ॥64-65॥
One day, seeing Madri all decked up, Pandu became attracted to her and as soon as he touched her, he left his body. Thereafter, Madri sat on the pyre with her husband's corpse lying in the fire and said to Kunti - 'Sister! You must always be careful in bringing up my twin children too.' ॥ 64-65॥
